Volunteer to make a difference in Sri Lanka

Senahasa Trust, UK registered charity No. 1108820, is looking to recruit one or more experienced native English-speaking school teachers to work in rural state schools catering for children aged 6-18 in southern Sri Lanka. Following the destruction caused by the Tsunami in December 2004 Senahasa has rebuilt and equipped the schools with new classrooms and other facilities.

Senahasa is working with the Education Ministry in Sri Lanka to develop English language skills at these schools. Senahasa wishes to recruit up to two mature, flexible, enthusiastic teachers with experience of teaching English as a second language and the ability to work within a team with limited resources to continue building the English Development Programme. Applicants should have a minimum of two year’s teaching experience and hold a degree and TESOL qualifications or a B.Ed degree.

Working together with the schools’ Heads of English and the Principals, as well as our two experienced English teachers, the successful candidates should be team players with prior experience of teaching children aged 6 – 18, of setting up and running after-school English clubs and activities. Cultural sensitivity is essential. Appointees will need CRB clearance.
