IN AN EMERGENCY

If you find you need immediate hospital treatment for any reason, you should call Isis Assistance on +44 20 8 762 8015
(They do not accept reverse charges, but can call you back).
They will direct you to the nearest approved hospital and provide you with the emergency cover you need. They will ask you to fax through a copy of your certificate of registration; we gave you this on training, remember to carry this with you when you go on holiday as well as your emergency card.
ISIS guarantee to provide 24-hour cover worldwide and to pay hospital bills. If you are being refused treatment because the hospital is not convinced they are going to be paid, you should contact ISIS. It is their job to ensure you are fully covered. Of course, as soon as possible, you should contact Coll or your rep as well to let them know what is happening.

Check list of what ISIS will want to know:

  • Tell them you are insured through STA travel, and quote your policy number, this can be found on your emergency card.
  • Tell ISIS the start date of your policy i.e. the day you left the UK and the period of cover (365 days).
  • Give them contact details for you, for the hospital you are at, and any other contact info.
  • Tell them exactly what has happened.
  • Fax through a copy of your registration certificate.

Insurance claims

Teaching support and help
There are many topical websites on this subject, naturally. Good old Google to the rescue!

Insurance cover:
Project Trust provides you with a basic insurance package. You are covered from the day you leave the UK to the day you return, in any country worldwide. There are four main areas.
Medical expenses cover you for most injuries and illness, emergencies and emergency dental treatment.
Personal accident insurance is compensation for things such as blindness and amputation of limbs. It would give you some compensation should any of these things happen to you.
Personal liability covers you if you accidentally injure someone (the proverbial umbrella in the eye), or accidentally damage something not belonging to you.
Personal belongings and baggage covers you if you have items stolen or lost when you are away. You only have this cover if you opt in and pay for it.
